In 2020, gamers spent over $87 billion without receiving any valuable returns. MOBOX was created in April 2021 with the aim of breaking the "exploitation" by traditional gaming companies.

According to Footprint Analytics data, MOBOX ranks second in trading volume in the GameFi projects on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) in the past 30 days.

MOBOX aims to build a community-driven Play-to-Earn platform by combining DeFi and NFTs. NFTs are used to interact between games and the platform, adding more use cases for each NFT. Currently, MOBOX has four ways to earn income:

1. Liquidity mining through MBOX-BNB: To ensure the long-term development of MOBOX, all other pools except MBOX-BNB were suspended after August 2021. Users can quickly convert tokens and provide liquidity through Farmer. The current APY is around 120%, with 115% APY from mining MBOX and also earning CAKE.

2. NFT mining: The NFTs on MOBOX, called MOMO, automatically mine once obtained. In the MiningCamp, users can view the total hashrate and their own hashrate. The earnings depend on the user's share of the total hashrate.

3. BOX or NFT trading: MOBOX offers three types of mysterious boxes - BOX (which can obtain MOMO), Chests (each key unlocks a box), and MECBOX (which provides crystals to enhance MOMO's hashrate). The subscription cost for BOX is one-fifth of the weekly average market price, and users can profit from the price difference by buying and selling NFTs or boxes.

4. Platform games: In the three games currently provided by MOBOX, players can earn income through buying and selling equipment, ranking rewards, and leasing MOMO.

NFT - MOMO

The main function of MOBOX's NFT MOMO is to help users mine on the platform. The mining speed of MOMO is determined by hashrate, which can be increased in the following ways:

- Upgrading MOMO to rare or higher quality, consuming other MOMOs during the upgrade process. - Strengthening MOMO with crystals to enhance the base hashrate. - Collecting sets of MOMOs of normal, good, excellent, and rare qualities provides an additional 300 hashrate.

In addition to mining with MOMO, users can also earn income by leasing MOMO in games. The lessor of MOMO can also earn rental income.

Three Games on the Platform

- TokenMaster: Players can earn coins through three mini-games - Monopoly, Plunder, and Arena - to compete for rankings. At the end of each season, players receive MBOX and crystal rewards. The Plunder game requires the use of MOMO to battle against matched opponents, and players can use MBOX for upgrading MOMOs, additional skill books, and participating in the Arena game.

- BlockBrawler: A role-playing game where players can choose one of six professions and participate in PvP or PvE games using different skill strategies. Top-ranked players also receive MBOX and crystal rewards. Players need to use MBOX when buying resources or equipment for their characters.

- ChainZArena: Positioned as the first cross-blockchain and cross-platform game, open testing for ChainZArena began on December 31, 2021. Players can use cards to engage in battles.

Token Models and Data

- MBOX: MBOX is the original token of MOBOX's platform. The team behind MOBOX stated that there would be no pre-mining or distribution to investors during the seed round or the token's issuance, making it a fair launch token. According to Footprint Analytics, the current price of MBOX is $3, reaching a peak of $13 on November 30, 2021. This increase was attributed to the collaboration with Binance, where users had the opportunity to earn MOMO through a $1 million airdrop event on the Binance app.

- veMBOX: veMBOX is the governance token of the platform, obtained by locking MBOX. Similar to Curve's veCRV mechanism, the longer MBOX is locked, the more veMBOX is obtained. Locking MBOX also accelerates the yield from liquidity mining, and having veMBOX is a requirement for advanced subscriptions to BOX.

- KEY: KEY is a reward for liquidity staking in Farmer, produced through mining. However, MOBOX made adjustments to the platform's economic model in August 2021, changing the asset that generates yield from KEY to MBOX. KEY can still be used to unlock Chests containing NFTs. Since August, KEY prices have skyrocketed and are currently at $175.

- Buyback and burn: MOBOX uses 80% of its profits to automatically buy back and burn MBOX. When the price of MBOX falls below the average price of the previous 72 hours, the contract triggers a swap and burn of MBOX. This mechanism aims to stabilize the price of MBOX, but the downward trend in November indicates that this mechanism has not been very effective.

Conclusion

In July 2021, MOBOX was recognized as one of the best projects in Binance's MVBII (Most Valuable Builder) program. In November, it received strategic investment from Binance Labs and announced integration with the Binance ecosystem, including Binance Mini Program, Binance Pay, and Binance NFT Marketplace. MOMOverse will become the first fully integrated cross-platform metaverse within the Binance ecosystem.

Although MOBOX's founders have ambitious visions, the current playable games are similar to other GameFi projects. MOBOX needs to explore more unique features to retain users, and the integration with Binance requires further collaboration to establish a strong foothold in the GameFi wave.
